Sim­pact Foun­da­tion is a phil­an­thropic orga­ni­za­tion whose vision is to bring hope to the most vul­ner­a­ble women and chil­dren liv­ing in pover­ty through sus­tain­able and trans­for­ma­tion­al social impact. Our work focus­es on address­ing pover­ty through 3 Core Areas; Gen­der Equal­i­ty through Women Eco­nom­ic Empow­er­ment, Access to Qual­i­ty Edu­ca­tion while inte­grat­ing Con­ser­va­tion of our Envi­ron­ment to achieve sus­tain­able social impact. Our pro­gram­mat­ic inter­ven­tions focus­es on address­ing social dis­par­i­ties and envi­ron­men­tal issues through a unique mar­ket based approach that is finan­cial­ly sus­tain­able. Accord­ing to OECD data, some of the largest recip­i­ents of devel­op­ment aid are in Africa, yet Africa is home to more than half of the world’s poor. Zam­bia has one of the fastest grow­ing pop­u­la­tions and like many African coun­tries, it is plagued with high pover­ty lev­els. More than half of the pop­u­la­tion are mon­e­tary poor with the rur­al pover­ty preva­lence being 3times high­er. Because of the com­par­a­tive­ly high­er pover­ty lev­els in the rur­al parts of the coun­try, most of our pro­gramme work is tar­get­ed at this pop­u­la­tion.

Through our efforts we are con­tribut­ing towards achiev­ing 9 of the 17 Glob­al Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment Goals (SDGs);

OUR DEVELOPMENT APPROACH

We believe that we can reduce reliance on donor aid by com­bin­ing a mar­ket based approach and result based devel­op­ment method­olo­gies to sus­tain­ably address pover­ty and envi­ron­men­tal issues. By lever­ag­ing our exist­ing human cap­i­tal, which includes our vast finan­cial and invest­ment man­age­ment exper­tise, we can sus­tain­ably raise funds for our social impact pro­grams through a mutu­al­ly ben­e­fi­cial part­ner­ship mod­el. Some of the part­ner­ship options we use includes pro­vid­ing per­son­al finan­cial man­age­ment train­ing for cor­po­rate part­ners employ­ees in exchange for a dona­tion towards our social pro­grams. Low finan­cial lit­er­a­cy and health do not just affect the poor, accord­ing to avail­able data, dif­fer­ent cat­e­gories of adults includ­ing salaried employ­ees strug­gle with per­son­al finan­cial man­age­ment and lack the nec­es­sary knowl­edge and skills to meet their finan­cial goals. Despite high­er lev­els of finan­cial inclu­sion, only 13.6% of adults in Zam­bia are finan­cial­ly healthy. By sub­scrib­ing to our ser­vices, our part­ners not only receive crit­i­cal per­son­al finan­cial man­age­ment train­ing, but they also play a role in con­serv­ing our envi­ron­ment and improv­ing the lives of many peo­ple liv­ing in pover­ty.  We lever­age our unique exper­tise and an entre­pre­neur­ial approach to cre­ate mutu­al­ly ben­e­fi­cial val­ue to address pover­ty and con­serve our envi­ron­ment.
