Banja has over 20 years of financial Markets and Investment Management experience in global financial institutions with more than half in executive leadership roles. Having left the banking industry, Banja founded the Simpact Foundation, in an effort to use alternative and sustainable market-based approaches to help address poverty in her country and Africa at large. She is the first female Treasurer in the Zambian banking sector and has been instrumental in landmark transactions in excess of US$7bn including developing digital financial services that has helped increase financial inclusion. Her experience also includes balance sheet management of one of the largest financial institutions in the country. Her vast financial markets experience has resulted in her holding various board positions including among others, Board chairperson and finance and Investment committee board chairperson of various pension funds. Others notable board appointments include leading the Fundraising and Strategy Board Committee for World Vision Zambia, Bayport Financial Service among others. Banja is a graduate of the University of London, UK with an MSc Finance and Financial Law. She also holds a Bachelors of Law from the University of London and Bachelors of Business Administration from the Copperbelt University, Zambia.
